Cuts to the local NHS, rationing of services and threats of large scale privatisations have brought together people from different parts of the Extended East Devon Sidmouth Hospital NHS Locality to form a non-party political voluntary ‘watchdog’.

Are you able to help our campaigns to maintain and improve the standards that the public expect from the NHS in Devon?

PROPOSED LOCAL HOSPITAL BED CUTS

Tell the local health authorities what you think of their proposed cuts of even more local community hospital beds (seventy one more) in the East Devon Locality, meaning that patients must instead be treated at home in their own beds. It has been tried and failed in North Devon.

MEETING IN SIDMOUTH PARISH CHURCH - Friday 9th December - 7.30pm.

The "Your Future Care" consultation ends on 6 January. Please come to this local meeting in Church street (download meeting leaflet here) and learn how it is not just a matter of proposed Sidmouth hospital bed cuts, but cuts to many different NHS services in Devon wide, hidden under different project names, aimed at confusing us.

Public Consultation Meetings on Hospital Bed Cuts

Click Here to Download list of the Devon CCG's fourteen public consultation meetings in East Devon on hospital bed cuts. The meetings start on Monday 7 November in Sidmouth and finish in Honiton on Tuesday 29 November. Book suitable locations for yourself and friends in advance. The download list gives reservation details.

Members of the group at the first public consultation meeting in Sidmouth. The meeting was crowded out and some very intelligent comments were put into the debate. The same performance was carried into the repeat debate in the evening.

Now, after two weeks of consulting the public, it is clear that the public have no confidence in the local Devon health authorities (Clinical Commisioning Group) who are simply carrying out government orders to make deep cuts in health services across Devon as are other CCGs across England. The CCG are still claiming that the system of being treated in your own bed works well in North Devon when there is a long outstanding complaint to Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Health.
